It all started when...
We had an idea.
We, Dave & Sian Harris, packed up our lives in London and moved to West Wales in late 2016 to fulfil a long held dream of a free range lifestyle in Ceredigion near the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron.
Sian was in HR and Dave spent ten years developing people centric spaces in the city until we came across a wonderfully compact smallholding for sale…
Roots.
Sian's father grew up in Aberaeron and we have spent many weeks here over the years and fell in love with the stunning scenery and beautiful quiet beaches - in fact four years before we moved we were married at the local National Trust estate, Llanerchaeron, which was designed by John Nash of Buckingham Palace and Regency London fame.
Home.
Our little smallholding is 1.3 acres made up of a collection of converted former farm buildings and associated land. Long before we arrived the farm was over 25 acres but now we have the benefit of looking into those beautiful fields that are organically managed by local farmers.
Make.
2017 - The Dairy Shed was our first accommodation project working towards a self resilient and eco-conscious small-holding. We also planted 120+ Willow tree saplings.
2019 - The Pig Let, our second space, launched
2020 - an unexpected opportunity to take on a converted tannery cottage in Aberaeron came available and we have refurbished this quirky building extensively and are making it available to stay in under the name The River Perch. It was also an Oak ‘Mast’ year and so we collected a bumper crop of acorns from our three c.150 year old Oak trees to pot out and hope for future saplings.
2021 - A year of ‘hidden improvements’ including stock fencing, new parking areas and driveway resurfacing. We replanted our 0.4 acre paddock to hopefully mature into a native wildflower meadow.
2023 -The Bird Hide is due to open.
Collaborate.
In 2019 we co-created FEAST, running bustling Street Food and Local produce events in Aberaeron Harbour.
In 2021 we co-founded Pods of Wales to design and build garden offices and follies out of Welsh Larch.
